Award Guidelines

The New Zealand Procurement Excellence Awards represent a key reference point for the future of New Zealand’s position as a leader in Procurement practice.

Now entering its fifth year, the New Zealand Procurement Excellence Awards are the country’s foremost recognition of industry-leading procurement practice, principally sponsored by the New Zealand Procurement Excellence Forum, a group of senior leaders from across the public and private sectors in New Zealand, passionate about developing and growing the procurement profession.

The information you provide in this application is the key component of the judging process. If you have any queries contact your New Zealand Procurement Excellence Awards advisor, please use the FAQ function on this site where you can submit questions.

The 2020 award categories

Just as there are many different skills and characteristics that contribute to Procurement, there are five competitive New Zealand Procurement Excellence Award categories that have been established to recognize New Zealand’s finest:

  • Young Procurement Professional of the Year
  • Procurement Professional of the Year
  • Most Effective Teaming of the Year
  • Social or Environmental Impact of the Year
  • Innovation of the Year

The finalists in these categories will vie for the title of ‘Supreme Winner’ at the New Zealand Procurement Excellence Awards. Chosen by the judges, it demonstrates the highest achievement of the year in the Procurement field.

Things to note:

  • Applicants from the previous New Zealand Procurement Excellence Awards may reapply for the current year's Awards
  • You may submit a nomination for more than one award category in the same year
  • On receipt of all applications, the judges may deem you better suited to participate in another category. In this instance you will be contacted and advised and your application will be evaluated under the new category
  • We want to encourage a wide range of organisations to apply, nominees can have total staff count anywhere from 20+
  • We suggest you provide specific examples in your nomination
  • It has proven beneficial to winners in the past to include evidence (quotes, figures etc.) within their nomination
